In Queensland, Australia, a man had a terrifying encounter with a coastal carpet python while sitting on the toilet. The massive reptile was spotted lounging on the top of his shower, prompting the man to call in local snake catchers for help. Hudson Snake Catching, who responded to the call, shared the incident on their Facebook page, thanking Anthony Jackson for safely relocating the python from a property in Oxenford.
The images depict a 6-foot python coiled over the glass shower screen, causing toiletries to spill over due to its weight.
Mr. Jackson, a snake catcher from Hudson Snake Catching, responded quickly to a call and arrived at the scene within nine minutes. He was able to remove a python from its resting place in just 30 seconds using a hook. However, the python was not happy about being removed from its warm spot under a heat lamp. Mr. Jackson shared with News.com.au that he had a good laugh about the situation before safely relocating the python.
Although they can grow up to 13 feet long, carpet pythons are generally harmless and only bite if they feel threatened or provoked. According to Mr. Jackson, who had a close encounter with one, the python he encountered was likely just curious and mistook him for food. These non-venomous snakes are found throughout Australia, with the exception of Tasmania. Despite their size, they are generally docile and prefer to be left alone.
During this season in Australia, snakes search for secure spots to rest in for the winter months.
Mr. Jackson explained that the snake had entered the roof to hunt rodents and eventually found its way to the bathroom due to the warmth of the heat lamp.
